Visiting Kalkan By Boat
Kalkan is an old fishing town and the only safe port between Kaş and Fethiye.
At Kalkan Marina, you can also go deep-sea diving with a licensed instructor or enjoy a lazy swim at the yacht club on the other side of the marina. Enjoy and watch the boats come and go in and out of the harbour.

There is a large pebbly beach which is open to public. Keep in mind that public beach may be very busy during the high season.
The other option is platform beaches which are also very popular in Kalkan. There are boat shuttles to the platform beaches from the marina. These beaches offer you drinks and food all day.

According To Legend
According to the legend, Kalkan was founded by a Greek woman who came to this bay from the island of Meis about two hundred years ago with a ship full of stuff to sell.
The woman must have reported the features of this natural port so well that other Meisians followed her later, and Kalkan would turn into a lively commercial centre in 25 years.

Practical Information
One of the first places you should visit when you are in Kalkan is the nearby village of Kekova. It is the sunken city of the Mediterranean. You can see Kekova on one of the many boat trips departing from Kalkan.
If you also want to visit Letoon, Xanthos and Patara besides your visit to Kalkan, you will need to take out one week.
