ÇEŞME’S RENOVATED FORTRESS

It is impossible to miss the magnificent castle in Cesme. This landmark dominates this little city’s seashore. Constructed in 1508 by Beyazit II, the Ottoman emperor, the building has a military history and multiple courtyards. The Archaeology Museum is housed in this renovated citadel, which is not in ruins. Despite its small size, the museum displays numerous fascinating finds from local digs, including pottery, coins, and artefacts. Although there is a small admission cost, it is well worth it for the 360° views alone. Make a promise to us that you will ascend all of the castle’s numerous steps before leaving Cesme.

ÇEŞME’S OLD TOWN: GREEK HOUSES MEET NEW VIBE

You can stroll straight from the castle into the old town, which is a tangle of busy, winding alleyways lined with eateries, ice cream parlours, gift shops, and old Greek homes. Nestled among the stores is the Ayios Haralambos Church, which serves as a music hall, a market for handicrafts, an exhibition space, or something similar. Shopping or enjoying a Turkish tea or coffee at one of the many cafés in this area of town are both highly recommended. It’s amazing how well the new and the old have blended together while maintaining an authentic vibe.

ÇEŞME’S PROMENADE, MARINA & BEACH

What’s great about seaside towns is that they usually have a promenade, a beach, and a marina. We adore boats! Therefore, a joyful place is anywhere we can sit and watch the waves play with boats, or the other way around. The promenade that leads to the city’s beach flows seamlessly into Cesme’s elegant and hospitable marina. The entire seaside strip is crammed with restaurants and other establishments, as is frequently the case. Here you’ll discover well-known chains like Burger King and Starbucks as well as Turkish eateries that primarily serve visitors. The beach is in a lovely harbour and is small but picturesque.

THE AMAZING BEACH AT DELIKLI KÖY

Okay, we’ll admit that, in a technical sense, this isn’t Cesme anymore. Furthermore, as the locals know, the beach is not actually concealed. However, you must be certain of the exact spot because there are no road signs directing you there. With breathtaking white rock formations that will astound you, it is nonetheless rather impressive. You’ll adore this beach if you enjoy undeveloped areas. Simply prepare to be amazed; don’t expect any comforts. The question is: where can I look for it? The response? The coordinates to use are 38.229267, 26.342922.
