Four New Inscriptions Were Found In  Ancient site of Knidos.

In the Datça district of Muğla, four inscriptions made of Umayyad marble and limestone, have been discovered during archaeological excavations in the 3,000-year-old ancient site of Knidos.

Prof. Dr. Ertekin Doksanaltı, the head of the excavation team, explained that these inscriptions belong to the Umayyads who lived in Knidos between 685-and 711 AD.

A team of 40 people consisting of geologists, architects, restorers, art historians, biologists, anthropologists and excavation workers was found to have written the names of the boyars and commanders and managers who would participate in the expedition of the Umayyads to Istanbul in four inscriptions made of marble and limestone found during the excavations. New Findings In Beçin Castle

Excavations in the Ancient City of Beçin in the Milas district of Muğla, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List and is the capital of the Menteşe Principality, were carried out by Prof. Dr Kadir Pektaş and has been going on for a year now. The most work was the castle front fountain. First, they had found the stairs belonging to the Archaic period. Dr Kadir Pektaş reported being very excited about the progress of the works

Important information was obtained during the discharge works in the inner part of the well, especially for the history of Milas. In them, fragments of sculptures from the Hellenistic and pre-Hellenistic periods, figurants, entire ceramic vessels were found. Among the artefacts that came out during the decanting of the staircase, especially Mycenaean ceramics are among the finds that are very valuable for the history of Caria.
